Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school after her parents separated to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. Though she struggled financially and in the beginning, she made her acting debut as Rachel's Room's main character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murdered Martha Moxley. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was the main cast member for the first two seasons. She was also awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace left the television series in 2005 to focus on an even more prominent role in film, appearing in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She was on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of the roles. Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes playing Shannon. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. The character she plays is Faith who is both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Part of the Gyllenhaal family She is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager, she began to work in small roles for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko along with her sister. Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her leading performances in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in a Golden Globe Award nomination. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006), brought Gyllenhaal greater fame. The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child earned her nomination for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The following years, she starred in comedies and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) as well as The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
